Four Months, Sculpture, 2013

Exhibited in ‘Under The Bow’, Coventry, 2012.

'The Works', Birmingham, 2012

Here is my piece ‘four months’ exhibiting in ‘Under the Bow’ exhibition in Coventry and ‘The Works‘ in Birmingham.

“Four Months” is an experimental sculpture based upon the theme of memories. Over the past four months I have been collecting and keeping the possessions I use to remind myself of my past events during those months.

We all at some point take photos or videos, some of us keep diary’s and hold onto possessions such as tickets or letters to remind ourselves of the past events that we want to keep.

I however, have taken this to the extreme and have collected everything that will remind me of the past four months and this piece has become almost like a visual diary. Each spike represents a month and they have been pierced with the contents I have been collecting, they hold down the memories.

Each item on show has a significant meaning to me and brings back fond memories of what I was doing and who I was with. I find it interesting how to the viewer the items look like rubbish they see on a daily bases that have no meaning to them but to me they have become possessions that have a sentimental value.

The Kiss,

Exhibited in ‘Hijack’ at ’Coventry Artspace’, Coventry, 2012

My piece is based upon Rodin’s sculpture, the kiss. He portrays an erotic, intense and a passionate scene, something we all imagine and want to feel. Within todays society these romantic, desirable kisses are no longer thought of. We are so used to having a quick drunken snog in a club, that means nothing, or a rushed peck on the cheek to say goodbye. kisses are not always as passionate and intense as rodin has portrayed. My piece has been modernized and represents the different kisses we experience throughout life.
